Latin America is a land that was full of colors. The land was once ruled by some of the strongest empires in ancient time; for instance, Maya, Aztec, and Inca. In the 15th century, Europe invaded this land which brought more races and cultures together. In influence of the colonization of European had developed the society of Latin America to become an imitation of Europe. People praised and copied the same style of the Europeans. This lead to the artists in the 20th century to start questioning their own identity. They have a mix of background yet they seek for the uniqueness of Latin America can they introduce from their works. The four artists in this exhibition came from four different countries of Latin America. In their paintings, they looked back to the ancient time and their heritage to look for the one-of-a-kind topic to represent themselves. They believed the mythology and religion contained the purest of Latin American character. Beyond performing the elements of the ancient time, they combined the modern art techniques which they learned from Europe and with their own personal styles. Each of these artists were creating art that have rich contents and histories.
