The theme of this exhibition is to show the different attitudes that women encountered throughout the 20th century, and how those attitudes changed over time due to the events happening around them. As time changes and social issues arise, this will show how women expressed their attitudes towards being objectified, and eventually how their race was viewed.
Starting in the early 1930's you will find this Suzanne Valadon painting. Jumping ahead twenty years into 1951 you will find Louise Bourgeois' sculpture. The 1960's were an interesting time as early on the women artists were still depicting the feeling of being objectified, but by the late 1960's the race issue at hand took precedent up until the last piece of work in 1988 by Adrian Piper.
